Davene Keating
Director & Dog Lover
Growing up in Geneva Ohio, Davene filled her parent's home with dogs and cats that needed a home. You could say she was born to do the job she is now doing with Happy Endings. Lucky for us, Davene moved to Waco in 1980. Her first rescue in Waco involved a stray kitten who had been hit by a car. Davene rushed the kitten to a local veterinary clinic where she volunteered her time to pay for the expenses. It was then she knew she had found her calling and passion in life, and the vet knew he had found the perfect technician. She continued working for the clinic for the next 20 years. But her real passion was in the "rescuing." So in 2006, Davene settled in at Happy Endings Dog Rescue to fulfill her life's calling. Her experience as a veterinary technician gives her the know-how and ability to answer just about any question you may have about your pet's health. Davene resides in West, Texas with her two children and spends some much needed time at the end of the day with her own critters.
Teri Lechler
Vet Tech, Paw Protector
Born and raised on the West Coast, Teri fell in love with animals in the 2nd grade. Her parents bought land that afforded Teri the opportunity to have a menagerie of animals including horses, calves, rabbits, cats and dogs. Providing loving pet care to all sorts of animals was an instant love for Teri's family and she soon found herself helping in the barn and kennels while rescuing strays. After marriage and the birth of her first child, Teri moved to Texas and raised three more children. Once the kiddos started school, Teri filled her days working at boarding kennels and vet clinics and gained more than 30 years experience. Her true devotion, however, is at Happy Endings where Teri concentrates on providing love and hope to the many canine friends she tends to on a daily basis.
